When I hear a song, I go through many emotions, feelings, and visions. I operate by music. I hear a song note by note. I listen to it as a whole. I can always pick out the individual instruments. I love to learn the harmony to every song I hear. I hum along with the song. I sing at the top of my lungs. I read the words flowing through images in my head. My heart starts pounding faster usually by the middle of the song. Tears flow down from my eyes. My arms are covered by goosebumps. I feel a chill jolt up my spine. A smile naturally emerges. Sometimes I feel like the song picks me up and I'm dancing in the sky upon the lyrics of the song. I close my eyes and feel the wind embracing my skin, inticing my goosebumps to srout again.
I see splashes of color. Depending on the song I see pinks curves and orange swirls. Purple twists and rays introduce the green sparks. All these colors appear like fireworks. Unlike fireworks, they dance in the nothingness of my mind. They stay for the whole song or disapear as soon as another wordis sung or another note is played. This is why I get lost in songs. This is why when I sing, the melody, notes, and words have to be perfect. I am creating a memory; a everlasting mental picture. Everytime I sing, my brain records every emotion I feel, every movement I make, and every smile I see- whether it be from the audience or my own reflection.
I love to sing and I lose myself in every song I hear and sing. This is what I want to let the whole world know. I want people to find inspiration in something. It doesn't have to be music, but I am going to use music because that is what inspires me.
This is a very interesting description of your personal response to music. You might want to take a look at the book MUSICOPHILIA by Oliver Sacks. Also you might research more about music and the brain or music and mental health. My husband used to be a certified music therapist. He might be able to give you some ideas about this.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you on Friday night when we went out to hear the TIERRNY SUTTON BAND. She is a jazz singer who does some incredible things with her voice. You must listen to her! Check out her web site?
