TEDtalk
This is a TEDtalk that corralates with my project. This man named Robert Gupta works with Nathaniel Anthony Ayers. He had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. He wanders the street with an broken instrument. He seems very discombobulated, but as soon as he starts playing, he goes into his own state of mind with the music. He and the music react as one. Robert Gupta has a TEDtalk about his experiences with Nathatniel and how he is aware of the transformation he goes through when he is playing his instrument. His music and story have made a huge impact on the world. I want to achieve that.
I want to be able to sing and make a change in the world. I want people to realize the beauty and peace and unity in music. I want everyone to get chills when they her music or someone sing. I want to be that person standing on the stage, staring and a teary eyed standing ovation. This TEDtalk expresses how Robert felt when he was with Nathaniel. I want to inspire people like Nathaniel inspired Robert.

My ORIGINAL Idea
What I wanted to do was make a change. Whether it be for the community, my school, the world. But then after a week of contemplating and evaluating my idea, I realized there was something else that I loved and had a true passion for. Singing. I love to sing. Ever since I could speak I was singing. I would fall asleep to Beethoven and wake up to the music of the birds. My life has been one big song. I have been filling in the notes my entire life.
For my senior project, I want to have a huge, live preformance. I want to sing my favorite songs. I want everyone to know that I have a talent. I want them to see the passion that comes forth when I'm on stage singing my heart out. I want people to find their passion, and do what they love to do.
When I'm singing, I don't have a care in the world. I wish I could sing all day and nothing more. I love the goosebumps I get when I reach the notes and slowly get louder to emphasize it. I love it when the song and my voice match perfectly to create tears on people's cheeks. I love to impact people with my voice. I want to create an impact on the world. But I'll be satisfied by just singing, because that's what I love to do.
I know I changed my mind but this is something I really love to do. This is what I would be doing for the rest of my life if I knew I could live comfortably in the music world. But for now, I will just sing. If the opportunity comes up, I may take it and fly. But I have to live now, becuase I am not promised tomorrow.

My Idea
What I want to do is bring back the Quid Pro Quo attitude to Chinquapin. It should involuntarily be there but it really isn't. I'm not trying to be harsh, but truthful. How many students do you see picking up trash if and when they see it on the ground? That should be automatic. How many times have you heard students ask if they could leave chores because they finished all their work? They should ask "Do you need any more help? or Is there anything else I could do?" Why is it that students don't seem to appreciate what they have at Chinquapin.
I have been in Chinquapin for about 6 years. Technically I have been there all my life. Since my dad and all my aunts and uncles on his side have attended Chinquapin, I have basically been going there all my life. This school means so much to me and I would like for all the students to understand how Chinquapin is going to shape their lives.
This is why I want to have specific days or weeks devoted to Chinquapin. They would be like "Thank You Chinquapin Days/Weeks" This would be where we would have special events to remind people of the importance of Chinquapin. I'm thinking of having a day where we would look into their future and see how Chinquapin will help them out. Another thing I was thinking is to have a flash back to the old days and show them how the older students didn't have AC nor projectors, nor computers, nor cell phones, nor iPods, etc. They would live a day in the life of the 1980's Chinquapin students.
These activities will help students appreciate the school more.
